Thomas Andrew ; Born in West End Rd.Westmere, Auckland. Lived at 10 Douglass St Ponsonby. First school - Richmond road Primary.Family moved to Kelston (West Auckland) went to Kelston primary - Avondale Intermediate Kelston Boys High - leaving at fifteen and a half.
Work history: Plessey Electronics, Andrew and Andrew Cartage and Gibbson Clothing. In1971 I entered the Glass Industry, working for Auckland Glass Co. Hobson St.Auckland city, as a packer, then moved to a lift operator (the building had four floors, glass had to be moved between different floors) after about six months became a delivery driver (after a little road accident) was transferred into the sales office.
Auckland Glass Co. moved from Hobson St. to St Georges Bay Rd. Parnell. I was now Sales Supervisor with five staff. (Left and went to work for Smith and Smith Glass Co. in Onehunga, as a Sale Representative.
In 1981 I was asked to open a new branch in Silverdale (north of Auckland) with a staff of three. I had become a Branch Manager
In 1985 was transferred to the Wairau North Shore branch, with a staff of twenty-one.
In 1995 along came independence from the corporate world of demand, reports, staff, targets, endless managers meetings - always having to better budgets, endure office politics and others egos. I left, and started out in the world of self-employment.
Philippa and I bough tour first house in* Mangere East, a beach house in *Kennedy Bay (north o fCoromandel), purchased a life style farm (6.75 hectares) in Kaukapakapa (north of Auckland) a beach house in *Maunganui (north land) still living in KPA.(*since sold)
I'm more right than left - less torrent then torrent - have little patience - not religious but do no man harm - a Royalist - like going somewhere, more than being there - settled in my ways - don't like small talk or long conversations- tend to like pay as you go, you want it, you buy it - people look after themselves - accountable for your one actions - but help has to be there when we need it - don't have any fixed opinions on anything - no life time interests or any burning ambitions, the list can go on and on......My mother always said, I was to good to be true. I miss my dad. I'm in four minds, about my future.
