Bevan was born in Auckland and went to Sylvia Park Primary school,Mt. Wellington; Riverhills School - Pakuranga Intermediate and Edgewater college; before going to Auckland University.

He is a representative for Lion Nathan Brewers, South Island - since 2002. he likes Science, Politics, Sport, History, Fine Wine, Dark Chocolate, Outdoor (and indoor) adventures. His dislikes is "The Nanny State".
Bevan now lives with his two children (from an earlier relationship )in Nelson (NZ) and has just built his first house
